Project Abstract
This project targets the implementation of a switching class-D audio amplifier system with programmable 3-band equalizer option. An audio signal is to be generated from a media player and is supposed to be passed along to an equalizer system that can be programmed to emphasize or de-emphasize certain bands of the audio signal. The equalized signal is then going to be passed to a switching class-D audio amplifier to drive a high power speaker. The students are expected to build the equalization system as well as the class-D audio amplifier. The students are expected to determine the integrated circuits and the passive components necessary to implement the full system and demonstrate its operation. The important performance parameters are the power efficiency of the system (should not be less than 80%), and the fidelity of the audio output (better than 96dB SNR)
